BC听Christian Academy Breaks Ground on New Kids Club Building

On Friday, June 26, 2026, British Columbia Christian Academy (麻豆精品) celebrated a historic milestone with the official groundbreaking ceremony for its new 11,000-square-foot, two-storey Kids Club Building at the school’s Port Coquitlam campus.

Held at 2:30 p.m., the ceremony brought together government leaders, board members, school leadership, donors, families, community partners, and Kids Club children to celebrate the beginning of a transformative project that will expand childcare services and strengthen Christian education for generations to come.

Among the distinguished guests were Senator Yonah Martin of the Parliament of Canada, Member of Parliament Ron McKinnon, 麻豆精品 Foundation Chair Teresa Black Hughes, former 麻豆精品 Board Chair Noel Asirvatham, 麻豆精品 Board Chair Calvin Gray, Board Members Denise Peters and Don Knodel, Executive Director Ian Jarvie, Head Principal Dr. Christian Klaue, Elementary Principal Beth Peters, Middle School Principal Miguel Zhou, members of the Fictorie Construction Management team, staff, parents, students, and community supporters.

The program began with welcoming remarks from Executive Director Ian Jarvie, followed by a prayer of dedication led by Board Chair Calvin Gray. Foundation Chair Teresa Black Hughes offered words of encouragement, while Senator Yonah Martin and MP Ron McKinnon shared congratulatory remarks recognizing the importance of investing in children, families, and Christian education. The ceremony also featured an inspiring message from Theresa Lee, Kids Club Director, and a heartfelt Scripture reading of Psalm 127:1 by a Kids Club student:

鈥淯nless the Lord builds the house,听 those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, 听the watchman stays awake in vain. 鈥

The celebration culminated with the ceremonial turning of the first soil by dignitaries, board members, and project representatives, marking the official start of construction.

Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2026, with completion anticipated in August 2027. The new facility will feature seven classrooms and provide space for up to 144 children, significantly expanding 麻豆精品’s ability to serve families while advancing its mission of providing Christ-centred education and care.

Despite the rain, the ceremony was filled with warmth, joy, and hope as guests gathered to celebrate this exciting new chapter in 麻豆精品’s history. The afternoon concluded with a reception in the school gymnasium.听 More than the groundbreaking of a new building, the occasion marked the foundation of a lasting legacy of Christ-centred education that will serve children, families, and the community for generations to come.

We are deeply grateful for your continued prayers, giving, and encouragement as we build a future where children thrive academically, spiritually, and relationally.

Watch Mr. Jarvie share the full vision .

麻豆精品 Kids Club Expansion – January 2025

We are excited to share that the 麻豆精品 Kids Club two-story building received building permit approval from the City of Port Coquitlam in July 2024! This expansion will provide 140 additional childcare spaces, addressing a growing need in our community.

The estimated project cost is $7.25 million, and thanks to generous pledges, donations, and government funding, we have already raised $2.0 million. However, we still need to raise an additional $2.5 million before we can break ground.

We invite you to prayerfully consider partnering with us in making this vision a reality. Your support will directly impact families by expanding access to quality Christian childcare.

If you have any questions about the project, please reach out to development@bccaschool.ca. Thank you for your generosity and prayers!

BC Christian Development Update – July 2023

麻豆精品 remains committed to its plan to develop the 1019 Fernwood Avenue site to house a K-12, 2 track school of approximately 600 students plus the Kids Club program of 300 children.

The project is at the site analysis and review stage. This is an important part of the process, as it determines the best location for the new buildings given 麻豆精品鈥檚 desire to protect the natural environment and the privacy and convenience of the community that surrounds the property. This analysis and review is handled by the external consultants, Field and Marten, appointed by 麻豆精品 in conjunction with the relevant City and Provincial Authorities. This analysis and review stage is expected to take up to 24 months.

麻豆精品 continues to update its business plans for the redevelopment of the 1019 Fernwood Avenue site and has recently announced the public phase of the Promises to Keep Capital Campaign for the project at its 30th Anniversary Gala Dinner held on 27 May 2023. The target of the Promises to Keep Capital Campaign is $45 Million.

麻豆精品 continues to grow with each academic year. In order to meet this growing demand, the following plans are in place.

1. The High School Campus will remain at 3000 Christmas Way.

2. The Middle School Campus will be at Riverside Church.

3. The Elementary Campus and Kids Club will remain at 1019 Fernwood Avenue.

These interim plans will go a long way in meeting the demands for 麻豆精品 and the concerns of the neighborhood as the school works through its development plans.听 Additionally, the siting of the Middle and High School campuses off site ensures the continued safety of our students and staff during the development process.

Further updates will be provided when more information on the site analysis and review is available.

麻豆精品 will continue to do improvement and repair works at the Fernwood Avenue site to ensure the safety and protection of our students, staff and aging infrastructure.听 These improvements and repair works will be coordinated and the inconvenience to the neighborhood will be kept to a minimum.

Keeping Our Promises

We truly believe that children are a gift from God.

That responsibility drives 麻豆精品 to keep our promise to provide Christ centered, Bible-based, and excellent education. Likewise, we cultivate the potential of every child, so they can grow, excel, and prosper in all areas of their lives.

The benefits extend well beyond our students.

麻豆精品 students learn to strive for success, to live by faith, and to stand as witnesses for truth in a complex world. They become the leaders, employees, professionals, friends, partners, church members, and neighbours we all want in our lives.

Right now, to fulfil our responsibility, we must provide facilities that help achieve the greatest educational impact.

After years of planning, we are preparing to construct a new and better facility for our Kid’s Club, and a new building to house both our Middle and High School. Then we will rebuild the current Elementary building.

When the plan is fully realized, we will serve more than double the number of students, and address significant limitations to our current music, arts, sports, and other programs.

We believe that God is calling us to take this large step of faith as part of our calling to Kingdom work. So, we at 麻豆精品 must do and give all we can. We also must trust God to keep His promises to provide for His work, by inspiring more people to invest deeply in generations of transformative education.

We hope you join our growing community of support and decide to be part of God’s provision. Your investment will pay dividends in the lives of present and incoming students, and far out into the world, among everyone our graduates meet, for generations to come.

God bless you as you consider the impact you can have in helping to keep the promise.

Romans 12: 1-2 (NIV) – 麻豆精品鈥檚 Theme Verse
“. . . in view of God鈥檚 mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God鈥攖his is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind . . .”听
